Unfortunately there has been a setback that delayed the public preview preparations by about one week. This particular issue dealt with the QuadTree movement system and was related to the work on mob AI and patrolling. Several work-arounds have been tested and things are starting to move in the right direction again, but substantial testing and preparation time was lost. In an effort to provide a better experience the difficult decision to delay the preview by one week was made. The preview will now be from September 3rd to September 10th.
Between now and September 3rd there is the possibility of a public stress test to help us test various fixes and prepare for the preview. Information about any tests will be posted prior to when they occur in the event that any do, please continue to check back for the latest information.
The team sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused anyone, we wouldn't move the date back unless there were no other option. Having the preview on August 27th, as originally planned, would result in an inadequate experience at best. We must balance our concerns for timeliness and quality, and this is one instance where quality cannot be sacrificed for the sake of remaining on schedule.

State of the Bane 08-09-10
As promised, the SBEmu team is proud to present the August 2010 State of the Bane!
Public Preview
You will all be pleased to know that we have decided on a date for the next public preview and are ready to release some specifics about what it will entail! The preview will be held from August 27th to September 3rd, contingent upon development progress and internal testing. Developers, designers, and testers are all hard at work in preparation for this event and want to make sure that it is an enjoyable experience for everyone.
This event will be relatively open-ended, allowing you a great degree of freedom in the world of Vorringia. You will be able to level, train skills and powers, promote at level ten, access your bank/vault, purchase items from vendors, slay mobs and (of course) other players! The Runemaster will be implemented to allow normal teleportation throughout the world, ensuring that everyone will have access to the necessary leveling zones. This will give everyone a chance to experience what has been done so far by the SBEmu team, both in terms of PvE and PvP.
When the preview draws closer there will be another announcement with more specifics, including information on an event to be held at its conclusion. We look forward to seeing everyone in-game by the end of the month!

Ladies, gentlemen, and comrades! It's time for a brief update on the status of SBEmu and the progress that has been made over the past month.
Testing Team Progress
It's been nearly two weeks since the Internal Testing Team began work, and already they have made incredible progress. So far they have been concentrating on reviewing zones and object placement, helping us recreate the world of Shadowbane as accurately as possible. The work they are doing will have (and already has had) a noticeable positive impact on the final state of SBEmu, ensuring the world is of the highest quality when released.
Design Progress
The Design Team has spent the past month working on finishing building placement, and we're proud to announce that nearly 99% of buildings are placed on the map at the time of this announcement. With zones mostly complete, the next major task for the Design Team is to begin populating them with mobs. Like buildings, some mobs will be automatically placed from recording data thanks to community contributions and the Developers, but a substantial portion will need to be placed manually as well. It's never too late to submit your recordings, feel free to give the team a hand and submit them
